Ford Bronco enthusiasts, new and old, have been patiently waiting for its return ever since the 2017 North American International Auto Show when the company officially confirmed plans to resurrect the storied nameplate. And since production of the previous generation ended in 1996, some have been waiting much longer. Well, after two and a half decades, that patience is finally about to pay off, as Ford expects to begin production at the end of the month, with first deliveries being made late spring/early summer.
But while the Bronco gets the lion's share of press attention, it's not the only adventurous Ford 4x4 launching this year. In fact, the Bronco's smaller sibling, the Ford Bronco Sport, has already been released, and it's available today here at Rowe Ford Auburn.
Small Crossover; Big Adventure
As a subcompact crossover, the 2021 Bronco Sport slots between the smaller EcoSport and larger Escape in Ford's SUV lineup. But don't let the size fool you, as its diminutive dimensions belie a somewhat surprisingly roomy interior and significant capability for exploring beyond the asphalt. Under the hood, Bronco's base engine 1.5L EcoBoost turbo-three makes 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. And if you're looking for more internal motivation, Bad Lands models equip a 2.0L EcoBoost turbo-four producing an impressive 250 hp and 277 lb-ft. Like its bigger brother, the Bronco Sport comes standard with four-wheel-drive, retro-modern style, and a Terrain Management System with up to 7 G.O.A.T. Modes™ that help you Go Over Any Terrain.
In addition to its comfortable passenger accommodations, the Bronco Sport retains 32.5 cubic feet for cargo behind the second-row and offers up to 65.2 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. It also comes standard with several desirable amenities, including roof rails, a flip-up rear hatch window, an 8-inch touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Every model also includes Co-Pilot360™ driver aids like forward collision mitigation, lane-keeping, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
For the more intrepid Auburn drivers, Bronco Sport offers numerous available adventure aids, including durable, easy-to-clean rubberized flooring and rear seatbacks, outward-facing LED task lights, and a cargo management system that serves as a cover, divider, second-level, and even a table with fold-out legs.
